It Started With A Kiss by Melanie Moreland
It started with a kiss.
Then it became so much more.
Love at first sight.
Avery Connor doesn’t believe in it.
But what about love at first kiss?
A favor for a friend. Kiss a stranger and walk away.
But what if that favor, and that stranger, prove to be the turning point of her life?
What if that kiss leads to something more?
Dr. Daniel Stewart is certain it will.
He is determined to make her see him. To feel what he feels.
To have the effects of that kiss last forever.
A story about taking a chance, opening your heart to the moment, and falling in love.
I read this book because my book bestie (Amber Starr of TBR Book Blog) knew I’d love it. And love it I did. This book has insta-love of epic proportions, but you know what? The same thing happened to me in real life with my now husband of 20 years. Yes I’m talking about the fact that he saw me at a party, came inside because he had to meet me, and his sense of humor drew me in, but when he took my hand… I felt that zing. Something I had never felt before. He claimed me as his own our very first date. And the chemistry between us? It’s off the chart, even 21 years later! Our circumstances were different from the book, as my man was 19 and I was 20 and we only had 3 months together before I had to go finish my senior year in college and he had to move to Los Angeles to start his career in film. I started my senior year with a promise ring and at Christmas when I went to visit him, I came back with an engagement ring. Three weeks after I graduated from college, he married me, having flown in 2 days prior. We had a honeymoon in St. Augustine and then he brought me out from Orlando to Los Angeles where we currently live with our children.
Why am I telling you so much about my life? Because the insta-love, one half of a soul recognizing the other half, is what my husband and I experienced. And while I was reading this book cuddled up next to my husband, he called my name, stared in my eyes and told me I was so very beautiful and how much he loves me. *swoon* Basically I married the closest thing to the male protagonist in this book. And my life has been so good. Sure we’ve had some big ups and huge downs, but we’ve always weathered the storms together. My husband is a sound effect mixer in Hollywood, not a vet like Daniel in the book, though we do have 9 cats.
What I’m saying is that this book spoke to me and it spoke to me in a huge way. The hero and the heroine have such amazing chemisty, mutual respect, and are just loving the hell out of each other. No sarcasm, no putting each other down. Just wanting to see each other as much as possible and never wanting to be apart.
Why am I not telling you more about the story of the book? Well you can read the book blurb if you want to know the story. I went into the book blind and I’m glad that I did. This was such a low drama, low angst, loving, wonderful, uplifting story that I know I’ll be reading again when I need a pick-me-up. Oh and it’s funny too! It’s not a big ball of sap. This book had some seriously funny moments! I added it to my “favorites” list. Lastly, it had an HEA, with several epilogues. I love epilogues and these made me so very happy.
I can’t recommend this book enough, especially if you’re looking for a very sweet romance with low angst and extreme chemistry. I gave this book 5 stars.
